Where is Reporting on Aaron Schock?

There appears to be an absence of reporting on boy wonder Aaron Schock. In the paper yesterday there is a mention of Schock being in China on State business. What state business? Are the taxpayers doling out money for Schock to go abroad? Did Reps Leitch, Sommer or Smith go? What about Shadid or Risinger? Does the PJS only write about Schock when they reprint his press releases?

While they are still not reporting on Aaron Schock going to China, may they can continue not reporting how much tax dollars are being spent on mailing that both the printing and postage are paid for by tax dollars. They can also not report on where Schock campaign Manager Steve Schearer lives.
From last weeks
Word on the Street

The state Democratic party has sent in helpers for both the Smith and Spears campaigns. The Republicans have been in town checking up on Dagit and Schock (though he has his own campaign manager).

In the financial reports filed by the campaign on Aaron Schock, they list Steve Schearer as living in Spring Valley, located in Bureau County. If you are to call one sides campaign employees out of towners, you are obligated to apply the same logic to the incumbent. Although he did run for Peoria County Republican Chair listing a Peoria address, but we are still not sure where he lives.

Nice sniping Willy, but let me assure you that Steve has become, over the last two years, a bono fide local. He does have a residence in peoria, was elected as a precinct committeeman (requiring a peoria residence) and can be found in peoria on virtually any day. If you'd like, I'd be happy to show you the office he works in almost every day, an office at our headquarters. I think the point of the article was that he is not affiliated with any of the legislative (i.e. Springfield) staffs, something which Smith and Spears can not say. Frankly, I say the more the merrier, having been one of those evil "out-of-towners" coming in to help a campaign in my youth. I don't have any horns and don't kick little puppies, and I don't think I've ever met a campaign staffer (out of towner) who did.

Is all of this debate about where people's campaign staff come from an attempt to distract us from Aaron Schock's record?

I remember folks criticizing Alan Keyes for being a carpetbagger from Maryland, and I think that's fair. But I don't remember the media in Peoria giving a rat's tail about the fact that Obama's campaign manager was a carpetbagger from Kentucky.

Campaign managers usually are, by definition, carpetbaggers, unless they're lucky enough to live in towns that have competitive elections very six months.

Heck, where's the story about judicial candidate Michael Powers hiring a campaign manager from Lisle?

I think the real point is that a couple of young female reporters have become so google-eyed over the dandy Aaron Schock that they're willing to call any half-baked attack his campaign whispers in their ear a news story. That's where the real media bias lies, and God help Aaron Schock when they finally wake up and realize they're not his type.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

Jennifer Davis and Moilly Parker deliver a wonderful Word on the Street today, with smackdowns applied to the Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau (for misusing taxpayer money) , former Peoria City Manager Bern Ewert[1] (for screwing up the city’s budget process) and a mild rebuke to State Rep. Aaron Schock for trying to imply that city workers and departments support his re-election when that isn’t the case. And, surprise, it’s not the first time.

Steve Shearer live(s/d) with Mary Carla Grube, also a big Schock supporter, and recently ousted Executive Director of Freedom House in Princeton.
